Cat's eye view

I don't know what it is about plastic bags, but Lucy just loves them.

She likes to lick them.

She likes to burrow down into them and make a nest.

I have a cupboard above the fridge that is pretty much just full of paper and plastic grocery bags.
When I get ready to go to the market, I grab a bunch out and throw them in the car to take to the store.

The rest of the time, they are just there in that cupboard.

Before the remodel, the cabinet above the fridge was only 12 inches deep. Which meant there was access to the top of the fridge.

Lucy used to love getting up there. I think she likes to have a vantage point looking down on things.

That and George is fat and a bad jumper, so he could not get her up there.

With the remodel, that access went away.

The cabinet is flush with the fridge so it has a more built-in look.

No more cat's eye view for Lucy.
But the other night I opened that cabinet while manfriend was standing there holding Lucy.

Immediately she started craning her neck to see into the cabinet and pushing against him like she wanted to jump in there.

So we put her in.

She burrowed back into the cloud of plastic bags so far that for a while we could not even see her.
Eventually she poked her pointy little face out and watched us from inside her plastic cocoon.

After about 30 minutes she had enough was was ready to come down. I got up to help her since the only way out would have been to jump from the cupboard to the bar counter and that is a long jump, even for nimble Lucy.

She is funny, my skinny, pointy old lady cat.

It's funny how we all have quirks and idiosyncrasies, even cats.

Hasta la vista, baby

No Arnold.
Not on my floor anyway.

Hello, guvna

When I got to work today, I found out Arnold Schwarzenegger will be in our office this afternoon to meet with the muckety mucks.

I am not sure he will be coming through my part of the building or not. We don't have too many muckety mucks over here in my corner.

I am not sure how far out of my way I would go to meet him.

But I have my camera with me. So if he does walk through here, I will at least try to get some pictures.

Hello, spring

It has been feeling very springy here these days.

That was the inspiration for my color scheme on this card.
Patterned paper is all from Stampin' Up.
Image stamp in center is from Stampin' Up (good things grow set).
"Hello" stamp is from Paper Trey Ink (paper tray set).
Ink is Stampin' Up in Sage Shadow.
It came together fast and I was done with all 8 cards in about 45 minutes.

Lost weekend

Is it a lost weekend when you don't do anything, but still enjoy it?

Maybe not.

I didn't cook anything.
I barely cleaned anything.
I ignored chores and errands as much as possible.

Sunday was a stamping day. I was going to go without a card. I just had let the time slip away during the week and never made a card to swap.

By Saturday night, I was just thinking I could owe everyone two cards next month.

But a bad night sleep (thanks barky dog and a-hole with a tempermental car alarm) gave me time to formulate a card in my mind.

I got up at 8 a.m. and put together the sample card. It looked pretty good so I went ahead and put together all eight cards I would need for the swap.

I will post a picture of it after I get to a computer with Photoshop.

My food contribution this month was easy: salad. I decided to do all the pieces separately, like a mini salad bar. I had romaine lettuce, mushrooms, radishes, tomato, cucumber, avocado, and fresh roasted beets. I also made a homemade blue cheese dressing and grabbed a bottle of lo-cal Ital at the market.

No one ate the lo-cal Ital. And even though I figured not many people would like the beets, everyone ate the beets.

Stamping pretty much took all day Sunday.

For dinner that night I just reheated some chili I had made and stuck in the freezer a couple of months ago.

Monday I helped a friend with an errand in the Valley. On the way back, we took the ocean route and ended up having lunch in Hermosa Beach at Fritto Misto for pasta.

It was close to 3 by the time I got home. Instead of doing chores, I took a cat nap on the couch. Since I had a cat on me the whole time, it really was just a cat nap.

When the manfriend came over, we went out to get some food.

Since I had a late lunch of pasta, I was not really hungry.

We tried a couple of pubs since it was St. Patrick's Day.

But even though it was only 6:30, those pubs were packed. So we ended up just going to (insert giant chain restaurant here). It was what I expected. Whatever.

All I had was half a turkey sandwich and a cup of soup anyway. Too bad the waiter did not know the meaning of the word "brothy." That was NOT brothy soup.

Oh well.

After that we went o my favorite dive bar, had a pint and went home.

Quite the exciting St. Patty's Day. It's a good thing I am not Irish. They would disown me.

So, that was my exciting weekend. Now it is time to go back to work and start the cycle once more.

So was that a lost weekend? Not really.

Was it productive? Not even close.

Thinking of You - in black and white

With a little red thrown in for color.

The Internet swap I signed up for was a black and white color scheme with a little shot of one other color.

My first choice was not red.

But instead of having a caard made from a piece of paper just folded over, I wanted to use two separate pieces of paper, held together at the side by eyelets.

And the only color I had enough of in the eyelets was red. So red it was.

After that it was pretty easy.

I had waited until beyond the last minute to do this card. It is due in Ohio on March 15.

So I kept it simple. Plus I like simple.

I got these done pretty fast on Monday and sent them out yesterday to arrive by March 14.

The stamps are just random things I have here. I don't know brands or anything.

There is a bit of glitter on the little red flowers. It is hard to see in the picture.

No fancy tricks or techniques. No time for that.

Saving daylight

The change didn't really hurt me. I know some people get whacked out by "losing" an hour.

Maybe since I was off Sunday and Monday it didn't hurt me.

Maybe because I don't really live by the alarm clock it didn't hurt me.

I don't know.

But I do know that it was nice to be outside last night at about 6:30 and it was light and warm.

And I know that I enjoyed having the manfriend cook me up a steak on the grill, along with some veggies.

And I know that I will like the possibility of getting out of work, at least on occasion, while there is even a little bit of sunlight left.

So, what else is going on?

Not much.

I had jury duty last Wednesday. I was going to blog about it, real time. But there is no WiFi at the courthouse.

Not in Long Beach anyway. That court building is really falling apart.

But they do have a nice rooftop deck area right outside the jury assembly room. So I could get some sun and sea air and take in the view of the water.

Yep. A dumpy old government building right across the street from the ocean. Nice.

What else...?

I got my taxes done over the weekend. That took a good portion of the day Sunday. But it was worth it.

And yesterday I pretty much did nothing. Which was nice.

I put together a quick card for an Internet swap and got those mailed out today.

I will try to get a picture of that up here tonight. If I am not outside enjoying the last dregs of daylight.
