What's cookin'?

Spaghetti.
Last night.
On my new cooktop.
And I made cheesy toast in the new oven.
Then I washed dishes in the new sink.
No dishwasher yet, but I am happy enough with the sink.

It's all just shades of gray

Tile that is.

Work continues on the kitchen.

The faucet, etc. are in and look great.

The glass doors are hung, but I forgot to take a picture of them.

There were a couple guys working today and they had the sink hooked up before I left for work. Running water sounded SO good.

They also said they would have the cooktop and the oven hooked up today.

I think the plan was to finish off everything but the dishwasher and the fridge. That way they can come back after the tile is done and all they will have to do is slide the fridge into place and connect the dishwasher.
So I got all the tile Monday. It is gray, so it will be neutral, but still tie in with the counters and offset the stainless steel appliances.

It should be much better than the old, white tile.

I think I will be very happy with it.

Animals really do have an extra sense or something

I cannot figure out how he does it, but George knows before I do when the workers arrive.
Maybe he hears the truck, which is just a normal pickup not some big work truck.
What I find really funny is that as soon as he hears them, he bolts for the bedroom and hides under the bed or behind the drapes.
But how does he know it is them?
When the manfriend or my sister show up in their trucks, he doesn't run and hide.
When I show up in my car and even in the rental (which is now a truck not a Buick), he runs toward the door, not away from it.
But anytime a worker of any kind arrives, he bolts before they even make it to the front steps. He hates workmen of all types: cable guys, painters, plumbers, kitchen guys... whatever.
Maybe he has bionic ears.

One decision down, one to go

I picked out floor tile over the weekend and went ahead and bought it.

I will take some pictures of that, maybe tomorrow morning, and post them.

It is a medium gray porcelain and the tiles are 16x16 inches and it cost $1.79 a square foot.

The man friend has agreed to help me do the floors this weekend. He is a brave man and I really appreciate the help.

I am still undecided on the backsplash. I am leaning toward the original plan of the subway tile, but I am having trouble finding a color I like that isn't going to cost $20 a square foot.

The floor is about 125 square feet and the splash is about 35 square feet. I hate to spend three times as much on the splash as I do the floor.

We shall see. It may just come down to me biting the bullet and paying more to get something I really love.
