I like a man who is good with his hands

I have these crappy steps at the back door of my house. They are awkward and too small for the arc of the screen door.

When you go out to the back yard, you have to open the door then step out of the house and down a step. Then you have to come around the door and step back up on the landing and then continue to the steps on the other side.

Not earth shattering. But annoying.

So my man friend offered to build out the steps into more of a deck.

He started Thursday and worked a bit more Friday and Saturday.

Sunday afternoon was my day to help.

He had the supports in place and so we proceeded to cut and place the boards across the top.

Today he is working on the steps to the side that goes to the back yard.

Then he will do the steps on the side that goes to the gate and the front yard.

It's so nice that he is handy.

He is teaching me to be more handy by getting me out there with a drill and a crowbar.

As you can see from the photos, the deck is looking pretty good so far. Especially compared to the crappy steps that were there.

It's a nice redwood deck, and he is thinking about using the leftover wood to make a couple planters to go on each side.

Wow. You got yerself a good feller there. Looks like a solid piece of work he did there. And excruciatingly thoughtful.
